Adormirea Maicii Domnului — the Dormition of the Mother of God — is one of the most important feast days in Orthodox Christianity, observed on August 15th and holding particular cultural weight in Moldova, where Eastern Orthodox practice shapes the national calendar in ways that have no real parallel in Western Europe.
