| Описание аверса | The obverse of this rectangular silver bar-coin features a polished silver field bearing the Malawian coat of arms at center-bottom, flanked by the divided date '20 11' and the denomination '50 KWACHA' with 'REPUBLIC OF MALAWI' inscribed below. A framed serial number '0638/2950' appears in the lower left field. The upper portion of the obverse is decorated with eight gold-plated miniature motifs drawn from famous world bullion and commemorative coin designs, including a kingfisher bird, the Walking Liberty figure, a maple leaf, a bust portrait in the style of a classical sovereign, a springbok-style animal, a hummingbird atop a trophy, a floral emblem, and two bears, all rendered in high relief with 24-karat gold plating against the plain silver field. |

This piece belongs to a category of commemorative issues that courts controversy among serious collectors: the Krugerrand-format restrike produced by a nation with no historical connection to the South African original. Malawi issued a series of these gold-plated silver rounds in the early 2010s through third-party minting arrangements, effectively licensing the Krugerrand's iconic design for foreign sovereign coinage — a practice the South African Mint has periodically contested on intellectual property grounds.
