Obverse description Red underprint with blue and black intaglio print. Portrait of King Christian IX of Denmark appears in a vignette at left, with promissory text and denomination in the central field. A secondary vignette to the right presents an engraved view of the volcano Hekla in eruption, the whole composition enclosed within a guilloche border with denomination repeated in each corner.
Obverse lettering Íslands banki greiðir handhafa gegn seðli þessum Fimmtíu krónur i gulli. Reykjavík 1904.
