备注

Kings Bay Kull Comp. A/S operated the Norwegian coal mining settlement at Ny-Ålesund on Svalbard, and issued its own scrip currency for use exclusively within that isolated community. These notes functioned as truck system tokens — workers were paid in company currency redeemable only at the company store, a practice already illegal on the Norwegian mainland by the time this series circulated.

The KB7r reference denotes a replacement note, which is notably scarce given the small population this scrip ever served. The entire Ny-Ålesund mining operation was shut down permanently following a fatal mine explosion in November 1962, which killed 21 men and ended coal extraction there for good.
