The Oesterreichisch-ungarische Bank's 1902 50 Kronen was produced during a period of relative monetary stability for the Dual Monarchy, following the currency reform of 1892 that replaced the Gulden with the Krone at a fixed 2:1 ratio. That reform took nearly a decade to fully implement in circulation, and by 1902 the bank was still consolidating the series with fresh printings to meet demand across both the Austrian and Hungarian halves of the empire.
The watermark on these notes varies subtly across print runs — a detail worth examining closely, as it has been used to differentiate earlier from later impressions within the P#6 type.
