The effigy occupies the left and upper portions of the field, with deeply cut angular planes suggesting the head, collar, and outstretched form. To the lower right of the design, the inscription V.I.LENIN appears in two lines above the commemorative dates 1870 · 1970, marking the centenary of Lenin's birth. A small mint mark is visible at the bottom of the field. This pattern was struck in 1970 to mark the centenary of Lenin's birth — a politically mandatory occasion across the entire Eastern Bloc, with Czechoslovakia under particular pressure to perform ideological loyalty following the Soviet-led invasion that crushed the Prague Spring just two years earlier. The Státní banka československá issued an approved circulation piece for the anniversary, making this silver pattern a design candidate that did not survive the selection process.
Pattern coinage from Czechoslovak state mints of this period rarely entered documented collections outside party or institutional channels.
