Pattern coinage from the Kremnica Mint — Slovakia's historic facility operating continuously since 1328 — was routinely produced to test new designs and compositions before official authorization. This particular 1978 silver pattern was never approved for circulation issue, placing it in a category of Czechoslovak prooflike specimens that exist almost exclusively in institutional and specialist collections. The socialist-era mint produced such pieces in extremely limited numbers, often fewer than a dozen examples per design.
