| 裏面の説明 | A view of the grand Imperial Bath House (Císařské lázně) of Karlovy Vary is rendered in fine relief across the right and center of the field, depicting its distinctive multi-storey facade with domed towers and surrounding foliage. To the left, a chamois stands atop a rocky outcrop, serving as a traditional symbol of the spa town. The stylized inscription 'KARLOVY VARY' dominates the lower central field in decorative lettering, with the engraver's monogram 'JTS' discreetly placed to the right of the building. |

Issued to mark the 225th anniversary of the Karlovy Vary spa town's formal recognition, this coin belongs to a late-communist and immediate post-revolution transitional series that Czechoslovakia continued producing almost without interruption through the political upheaval of 1989–1991. The socialist-era commemorative program had long used silver issues as a soft-currency export earner, sold to Western collectors for hard currency — a practice that continued even as the federal state itself was quietly dissolving toward the 1993 partition.
The .700 fineness was a deliberate cost-reduction from earlier Czechoslovak silver issues, adopted in the 1980s and retained through the final federal emissions.
