| Obverse description | Central field features the national emblem of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, comprising a stylised landscape with paddy fields and a forested hillside, flanked on either side by bound sheaves of rice. A hammer and sickle device is superimposed at centre, surmounted by a five-pointed star, with a cogwheel and a scroll bearing Lao-script inscriptions at the base. The legend THE LAO PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC curves along the upper periphery in raised Latin characters, while the denomination 50 KIP appears in the lower field. |
