The Pathet Lao 50 Kip overprint on the 500 Kip base note is a product of the immediate post-1975 monetary reorganization following the abolition of the Royal Lao Government. The new People's Democratic Republic needed circulating currency fast, and overprinting existing stock was the practical solution while a full replacement series was prepared.
The "Printed: 30.04.1945" field almost certainly reflects the date embedded in the original plate design — not the actual production date of these overprinted notes, which postdates 1975 by several years.
