Issued on 24 August 2021 to mark exactly thirty years from Ukraine's declaration of independence following the failed Moscow coup attempt of August 1991, this commemorative note entered legal tender circulation rather than being sold purely as a collector issue — an important distinction for the series. The National Bank printed it at its own Kyiv facility, which has produced Ukrainian currency continuously since 1994.
