Comments

Wolfpassing bei Steinakirchen am Forst is a small Lower Austrian municipality, and this 50 Heller note is a Notgeld issue — emergency small-change currency printed to address the acute coin shortage that plagued Austria in the years immediately following the First World War. Hundreds of Austrian parishes and municipalities issued their own Heller denominations in this period, and the Libertas print shop in St. Pölten produced many of them for surrounding communities in Lower Austria.

The Jaksch/Pick reference JPR1249 series covers Wolfpassing issues specifically. Libertas-printed Notgeld from this region tends to show clean typography but relatively modest paper quality.
