备注

Wickendorf is a small settlement in Upper Austria, and like hundreds of similarly obscure communes, it issued emergency paper money — Notgeld — during the acute coin shortage that followed the First World War. These hyperlocal issues were produced in enormous variety between roughly 1918 and 1922, with each municipality responsible for its own design, printing, and redemption. Quality and longevity varied accordingly.

The Jaksch/Pick reference places this among the rarer rural Austrian Notgeld, where surviving populations are thin simply because the issuing authority was tiny and redemption periods were short. Karl Zehetner's signature as signatory suggests a local administrative official rather than a banking officer.
