One of thousands of Austrian municipal Notgeld issues produced after the First World War, when coin shortages left local governments printing their own emergency fractions. Weinzierl bei Wieselburg — a small Lower Austrian municipality on the Erlauf river — contracted Leo Christophory for the design work. Christophory was an active contributor to the Notgeld genre, producing artwork for numerous small-town issues across Austria during this period.
Three signatories authenticated the note: the mayor, the deputy mayor, and a single named council member. That triple-signature requirement was locally mandated, not a national standard.
