Opmerkingen

Austrian Notgeld of this type emerged from a genuine small-change crisis following World War One, when coin metal was scarce and central authority too distant to serve rural communities reliably. Hundreds of Austrian municipalities printed their own emergency heller notes in 1920, most in tiny quantities for purely local use — shopkeepers and innkeepers were often the primary circulators.

Weinzierl am Walde is a small Lower Austrian village, and issues from settlements this size were typically printed in runs of a few hundred to a couple thousand pieces, with redemption periods that sometimes expired before residents even bothered to return them.
