Straßen bei Bad Aussee is a tiny Styrian village, and this 50 Heller note is exactly what you'd expect from a municipality of that scale issuing its own emergency money in the postwar years — a Notgeld piece signed by the Bürgermeister and both deputy mayors, which suggests the entire local government was involved in authorizing what was essentially a handshake currency. The three-signature arrangement was a legitimacy device, not a legal requirement.
Austrian municipal Notgeld of this period was driven by the acute small-change shortage that followed the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system. Most village issues like this one circulated only within the immediate community and were redeemed quickly — survivors are scarce for that reason, not because of low print runs.
