| Beschrijving voorzijde | Printed in dark violet-blue on cream paper with a fine wavy-line underprint, the obverse is framed by two vertical columns of three decorative stamp-like vignettes each, containing stylized foliate and geometric ornaments. The central field carries the title GUTSCHEIN in large bold letterpress, followed by the issuing authority and the denomination FÜNFZIG HELLER within a ruled cartouche flanked by the numeral 50 on each side. Below, a three-line guarantee clause states the municipality's obligation to redeem the note in lawful coin, concluded by the printed signature of the Bürgermeister, Dr. Karl Neuhauser, with an anti-counterfeiting warning at the foot. |

Stadl-Paura is a small market town in Upper Austria, and this 50 Heller note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept Austrian municipalities between 1919 and 1921 — a direct consequence of the currency chaos following the collapse of the Habsburg empire and the acute shortage of small coinage in the early Republic. Municipal governments were legally permitted to issue their own emergency scrip, and hundreds did.
Signed by Dr. Karl Neuhauser, almost certainly the Bürgermeister at the time of issue. These hyper-local pieces were often printed in very small runs by regional printers and redeemed within months, which is precisely why they survive in such uneven numbers today.
