| Beschrijving voorzijde | Green-tinted Notgeld note with an ornate lace-pattern border framing the entire design. To the left, a letterpress vignette presents a view of the Marktplatz with the parish church and surrounding buildings; below it, a legal text block states the note serves only for collecting purposes per state finance decree. To the right, the denomination "50" appears within a circular town seal stamp, flanked by the large Gothic-script legends "Gut-Schein der Marktgemeinde St. Aegyd a/N." and a facsimile signature of the Bürgermeister with the printed attribution "GF/V.W. KLEBER". |

St. Aegyd am Neuwald is a small market town in Lower Austria's Lilienfeld district, and this 50 Heller note is a Notgeld issue — emergency small-change currency produced by Austrian municipalities between roughly 1914 and 1922 to fill the void left by the hoarding and disappearance of metal coinage during and after the First World War. Thousands of Austrian communes issued their own, and the signed authority of the Bürgermeister, here Fritz Wagner, was the sole guarantee of redemption.
