| Reverse description | The reverse is dominated by a central oval vignette of Schloss Freundsberg castle set against an alpine mountain panorama, framed by decorative conifer branches extending along the left and right borders. The Tyrolean eagle coat of arms appears in the upper left corner and a mining heraldic shield with crossed hammers occupies the upper right. At the bottom, a rectangular panel bears the denomination "50" at left and "Hl" at right, flanking the inscription "Stadt Schwaz i. Tirol" in gothic lettering; the notation "6. Schwaz, in the Inn Valley south of Innsbruck, was once one of the wealthiest mining towns in Europe — its silver deposits financed the Habsburgs through much of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. By 1920 that era was centuries past, and the city was issuing 50 Heller Notgeld like hundreds of other Austrian municipalities scrambling to cover a catastrophic small-coin shortage following the collapse of the empire.
Wagner of Innsbruck handled a significant volume of Tyrolean Notgeld during this period, producing notes for multiple regional issuers from the same presses within a short window.
