| 备注 |
Scharten is a small farming municipality in Upper Austria, and its 1920 Heller notes belong to the vast wave of Notgeld issued across the former Habsburg territories as postwar economic collapse made official coinage functionally useless — hoarded, melted, or simply absent from circulation. The 50 Heller denomination was bread-and-butter small change, the kind of value gap that made everyday market transactions impossible without local substitutes.
Druckerei V. Langhammer in Linz handled a considerable volume of municipal Notgeld commissions across Upper Austria during this period, producing workmanlike results for communities with no budget for elaborate design. Johann Huemer's single signature suggests the note was authorized through the Bürgermeister's office alone, without a countersignatory — a minimal issuing structure not uncommon in villages of this scale.
