Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse is divided into two panels: the left panel carries a fine letterpress vignette of Rosenburg Castle perched atop a wooded hill above a river with a stone bridge in the foreground, rendered in a detailed engraved style. The right panel, set against a wave-pattern guilloche underprint, bears the denomination numeral '50' and 'Fünfzig Heller' at the top, followed by the issuer legend 'Gutschein der Sommerfrische Rosenburg' in blackletter script. Below, a legal redemption clause, the place and date 'Rosenburg, am 24. Mai 1920', and the printed signatures of the Bürgermeister and Vizebürgermeister appear in blackletter typeface, the whole enclosed within a dashed border.

Opmerkingen

Rosenburg is a small market town in Lower Austria, and this 50 Heller note is a Notgeld issue — emergency scrip printed at the municipal level during the acute coin shortage that followed Austria's collapse after the First World War. The central government could not produce enough small-denomination coinage fast enough, so hundreds of Gemeinden took the matter into their own hands between roughly 1919 and 1922.

The signatures of both Bürgermeister Mantler and Vizebürgermeister Brandstetter give it formal municipal authority, however modest. Jaksch/Pick reference JPR0846a places it firmly within the Lower Austrian series.
