Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse is typeset in dark violet ink on cream paper, framed by a plain rectangular border. The upper section is divided into two panels: the left carries a four-line patriotic verse in German blackletter script, while the right bears the title inscription 'Gutschein der Gemeinde Niederneukirchen i. Tr.' A large bold numeral '50' occupies the centre of the note, encircled by a dotted ornamental ring. The surrounding text sets out the legal authorisation of the issue, the total face value of the emission (20,000 Kronen), the redemption deadline of 31 December 1920, and the printed signature of the Bürgermeister Albert Plaß. A caution legend against counterfeiting appears in a framed panel at the foot.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse is printed in deep navy blue on cream paper and centred on a line-engraved vignette of the parish church of Niederneukirchen with its distinctive onion-domed tower, accompanied by a two-storey manor building, tall trees, shrubbery, and a picket fence in the foreground. The denomination '50 / Heller' appears in circular cartouches at each upper corner, flanking the locality name 'NIEDERNEUKIRCHEN' set in an arched Gothic-script banner across the top. Solid dark lateral panels on either side of the central vignette carry delicate white-reserve floral sprays as decorative elements.

Opmerkingen

Niederneukirchen im Traunkreis is a small Upper Austrian municipality, and this 50 Heller Gutschein is precisely the kind of hyperlocal emergency scrip that proliferated across Austria between 1919 and 1921 when the post-war collapse of the krone made small-denomination coinage functionally useless — hoarded, melted, or simply unavailable. Thousands of Austrian Gemeinden issued their own Notgeld during this period, redeemable only locally and often in very limited print runs.

The Plaß signature likely indicates the Bürgermeister or a senior municipal official, not a printer. Redemption periods were short and strictly enforced; notes that missed the window were voided and often deliberately destroyed, which accounts for the relative scarcity of most rural Upper Austrian Heller notes today.
