| Description du revers | The reverse, also printed in rust-brown on cream paper, presents the large numeral '50' at the upper left above the heraldic shield of Mondsee — divided into two fields, the upper bearing a crescent moon and the lower showing figures in a boat on water — rendered in a bold woodcut manner. To the right, a large vignette in the same woodcut style depicts figures in a rowing boat on a windswept lake, with dynamic swirling lines suggesting strong gusts of wind. The legend 'Mondsee in Oberösterr.' runs along the lower right in Gothic script, and the designer's name 'Reisenbichler' appears at the bottom centre, all enclosed within the same chain-link ornamental border as the obverse. |

Mondsee's notgeld issue from 1920 sits in the dense middle period of Austrian municipal emergency currency, when hundreds of small market towns printed their own scrip to address the chronic coin shortage that followed the dissolution of the Habsburg economy. Marktgemeinde Mondsee was a modest issuer — no elaborate series, no collector-targeted reprint runs of the kind that plagued larger municipalities trying to profit from the notgeld craze sweeping philatelic circles at the time.
The designer credit to Reisenbichler and the countersignature of Ant. Kaltenbrunner as municipal authority place this firmly as a locally produced, locally sanctioned instrument. Signed by hand rather than printed, Kaltenbrunner's signature was the legal authorization that gave the paper any spending value within the market town.
