Obverse description Printed in red-brown on a light green guilloche underprint, the obverse carries the issuer's name in Gothic blackletter script at the top, flanked by two hexagonal denomination panels each bearing '50 Heller'. A central vignette enclosed within a laurel wreath shows a detailed townscape view of Maissau with its prominent church tower and manor buildings. Below the vignette, a validity statement reads 'Giltig bis 31. März 1921', and the denomination 'Fünfzig Heller' appears in an ornate cartouche at the foot. A counterfoil stub at right bears the municipal coat of arms, a '50' rosette, and an ink stamp with the issuance date 'im Juni 1920'.

Reverse description Printed in black on plain cream paper, the reverse is divided into two sections. The left column carries the denomination text in Gothic script: 'Kassenschein über 50 Heller der Stadtgemeinde Maissau Niederösterreich.' The main field to the right is enclosed within a decorative chain-link border and contains a four-line verse in German attributed to Josef Schmid, followed by a legal guarantee clause stating that the municipality issues these notes to alleviate the small-change shortage and pledges its assets as surety. At the foot of the bordered panel, the facsimile signatures of the Bürgermeister, Vizebürgermeister, and First Gemeinderat are printed.
