| Obverse description | Printed in dark brown and pink on light green paper, the obverse is framed by an ornate border with dotted and foliate motifs. Two oval vignettes flank the centre — each containing a detailed view of a Laa an der Thaya church tower — while the large central text in blackletter script reads 'Gutschein über Fünfzig Heller'. Below the denomination text, a two-line guarantee clause in German script states the city's liability with its full movable and immovable assets, valid to 31 December 1920, accompanied by the municipal coat of arms and two manuscript signatures of the Vizebürgermeister and Bürgermeister. Denomination numerals '50' appear in each corner, with 'Stadtgemeinde' in the top banner and 'Laa a. d. Thaya' in the lower border. |

| Reverse description | Printed entirely in blue on plain paper, the reverse centres on a large heraldic vignette of the Laa an der Thaya municipal coat of arms — a shield bearing a fortified gate with two towers surmounted by a Maltese cross, set within elaborate baroque scrollwork. Flanking the central shield are two smaller vignettes of medieval town gate towers, each captioned with inscriptions identifying them as arms from the 13th and 12th centuries respectively, and attributed to finds from the 16th century. The denomination '50 HELLER' appears in bold type at the lower left and 'HELLER 50' at the lower right, with the validity date '31. Dez. 1920' and a German proverb running along the bottom edge. |
