Krumau am Kamp is a small market town in Lower Austria's Kamptal region, and like hundreds of similar municipalities it issued Notgeld during the acute coin shortage that followed the First World War. These emergency heller notes were a local solution to a nationwide problem — the disappearance of small change from circulation as metal was diverted to the war effort and hoarding set in.
The JPR0487c suffix indicates a specific color or printing variant within the Krumau am Kamp series, which collectors should verify against the Jaksch reference before attributing condition premiums. Small-town Kamptal issues were printed in limited quantities and often saw genuine everyday use, making clean examples harder to source than their urban equivalents.
