Krumau am Kamp is a small village in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of similarly sized municipalities, it issued its own emergency small change notes — Notgeld — during and after World War One, when coin metal was requisitioned and official small denominations vanished from everyday trade. The Gemeinde series are among the most locally specific objects in Austrian notaphily: produced in tiny print runs, circulated within a single community, and redeemed (or not) within months.
The JPR0487d designation places this within the Jaksch cataloguing of Lower Austrian municipal issues. Survival rates vary wildly by village; redemption was inconsistent, and many notes were simply forgotten in drawers.
