| Beschrijving keerzijde | Blue-toned reverse enclosed within the same decorative scrollwork border as the obverse, divided into two equal vignettes side by side. The left vignette renders a two-storey civic or residential building with a fenced forecourt and surrounding trees in a fine line-engraved style. The right vignette presents a village street scene with a tall wayside cross or pole, low farm buildings, and open sky with clouds. Above the bordered composition, the Gothic-script legend 'Zweite Auflage' (Second Issue) is printed outside the frame. |

Austrian Notgeld at its most local: Holzhausen was a small rural municipality, and like hundreds of similarly sized communities, it issued emergency small change during the acute coin shortage that followed the collapse of the Habsburg economy. The 50 Heller denomination was among the most commonly printed values in the 1920 wave of municipal issues, when the new Austrian government was still too disorganized to flood the provinces with adequate coinage.
The Jaksch/Pick reference places this in the broad corpus of Lower Austrian communal issues. Survival rates for these small-denomination rural notes are surprisingly uneven — many townships printed short runs, and few bothered to redeem and destroy them systematically.
