Hinterstoder is a small Alpine village in Upper Austria — the kind of municipality that issued Notgeld not out of institutional ambition but out of necessity. The postwar collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monetary system left rural communes starved of small change, and local authorities across Austria filled the gap with their own emergency issues between 1920 and 1921. Josef Feichtinger's Erben in Linz handled a substantial volume of these Upper Austrian municipal commissions, acting as a regional workhorse printer for dozens of similar issues.

The JPR0377d suffix indicates this is one of multiple Hinterstoder denominations in the series.
