| 备注 |
Herzogenburg is a small Lower Austrian town best known for its Augustinian monastery, and during the currency chaos following Austria-Hungary's collapse in 1918–1919, local printers across the region began issuing their own emergency money — Notgeld — to compensate for the acute shortage of small-denomination coins. The Buchdruckerei Herzogenburg, a local print shop rather than any banking institution, both designed and produced this 50 Heller piece for purely local use.
That a commercial printer served simultaneously as issuer and manufacturer tells you everything about how improvised this system was.
