| 裏面の説明 | The reverse, also printed in violet, is divided into three vertical panels: at left, a vignette of the Krieger-Denkmal (war memorial) with a mourning figure; at right, the birthplace of Prince-Archbishop Dr. Ig. Rieder. The central panel bears the denomination 'Gutschein 50 Heller' at the top within a floral surround, beneath which the redemption text states that the voucher is redeemable by the Gemeinde Grossarl until 31 December 1920, followed by the Bürgermeister's manuscript signature. The engraver's credit 'F. KULSTRUNK FEC.' appears in the lower margin. |

Grossarl is a small alpine village in the Salzburg uplands, and its 1920 Notgeld issue belongs to the vast wave of municipal emergency currency that flooded Austria following the collapse of the Habsburg economy. The Huttegger printing house in Salzburg produced a number of these local issues, working to tight budgets for clients who had no serious printing infrastructure of their own.
The Bürgermeister's signature — Rupert Kreuser, signing with the customary "m.p." (manu propria) — was almost certainly applied by hand or rubber stamp rather than engraved, as was typical for issues of this scale. Designer F. Kulstrunk is otherwise unattested in the major Notgeld literature.
