Opmerkingen

Götzendorf an der Leitha was one of hundreds of Austrian municipalities forced to print their own emergency small change during and after the First World War, when hoarding stripped copper and nickel coins from everyday commerce almost overnight. These Notgeld issues were purely local stopgaps — accepted at the bakery and the post office, useless two villages over.

The JPR0246 series for Götzendorf is among the less documented Lower Austrian issues; surviving examples in circulated grades often show the characteristic foxing and fold damage that comes from being handled in damp rural environments before being discarded once the national currency stabilized in the early 1920s.
