Opmerkingen

Ennsdorf was an independent municipality in Upper Austria until its 1938 incorporation into the adjacent town of Enns — one of countless small communes absorbed during the administrative reorganization that followed the Anschluss. This note predates that by nearly two decades, issued during the Notgeld period when the postwar collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monetary system left local governments printing their own fractional currency simply to keep commerce moving.

Emil Prietzel operated out of Steyr, a regional printing center, and supplied Notgeld to several Upper Austrian municipalities during this period. The JPR0178a designation places this within the Jaksch cataloguing of Austrian local issues.
