| Obverse description | Printed in violet on cream paper, the obverse carries a panoramic vignette of the Eggenburg townscape across the lower half, with a Gothic church tower rising at right and a detailed rendering of the Romanesque Kuchelbauer tower at upper left. The heading reads 'Gutschein der Stadtgemeinde Eggenburg' in elaborate blackletter script, with the denomination '50 Heller' set in large numerals at upper right. Three facsimile signature lines, captioned 'Der Vizebürgermeister', 'Der Bürgermeister', and 'Der Gemeinderat', appear across the centre alongside the validity inscription 'Gültigkeitsdauer bis 31. | Reverse description | The reverse, printed in violet on cream paper, is framed by a simple ruled border and centres on a circular vignette of the medieval town seal of Eggenburg, captioned 'Stadtwappen aus dem 15. Jahrhundert'. Two lines of Gothic verse run across the top: 'Gold in goldener Zeit, und Eisen in eisernen Tagen. / Jetzo nur hält uns Papier. Wich' es doch balde dem Gold!' A redemption text in blackletter script, split around the central seal, states that the Stadtgemeinde Eggenburg will redeem the note in legal tender between 15 and 31 December 1920, pledging all movable and immovable assets. The anti-counterfeiting warning 'Die Nachahmung wird gesetzlich bestraft' appears at the foot, with the printer's imprint below. |
