Opmerkingen

Brixlegg's 50 Heller notgeld was issued amid the catastrophic inflation and coin hoarding that followed Austria's defeat in the First World War. The rump Austrian state had essentially lost control of small-denomination circulation by 1920, leaving thousands of municipalities, businesses, and private institutions to print their own emergency scrip. Brixlegg — a small Tyrolean town whose economy centered on copper smelting — was one of hundreds doing so that year.

Tyrolese notgeld from this period was frequently printed locally on whatever paper stock was available, and the quality varies considerably within the same series.
