Austrian Notgeld at its most parish-level peculiar. Frankenburg's issue was organized not by a municipality or savings institution but by a Catholic parish — the Pfarrgemeinde — covering three separate communities, which made the administrative basis for emergency currency issuance unusually narrow even by the chaotic standards of 1920 Austria. The Salzkammergut-Druckerei in Gmunden handled a significant volume of regional Notgeld during this period, and Fritz Hilfer's involvement as designer places this squarely within the decorative small-denomination tradition that made Austrian Notgeld so aggressively collectible almost from the moment of issue.
The 0207b suffix in the Jaksch catalog indicates a variant within the Frankenburg series — minor typographic or color differences distinguishing it from sibling issues.
