Nagymegyer — now Veľký Meder in southwestern Slovakia — hosted one of the Austro-Hungarian Empire's many internment facilities during the First World War. Camp scrip of this type was a practical administrative tool: it replaced Imperial currency within the wire, preventing prisoners from accumulating spendable money that could fund escape attempts or black-market dealings with guards. The Globus printing house in Budapest produced camp notes for multiple K.u.K. facilities, treating them essentially as a job-lot commercial run rather than anything resembling official currency.
Nagymegyer camp issues are genuinely scarce survivors — most scrip was demonetized and pulped after the camp closed.
