Sankt Aegidi is a small agricultural parish in the Innviertel district, and like hundreds of comparable Austrian municipalities it issued Notgeld during the severe coin shortage that followed the First World War. The 50 Heller denomination sits in the practical middle range of the Gemeinde issues — large enough to matter for daily transactions, small enough to circulate heavily. Stuhlberger's signature identifies a local administrative signatory rather than a banking official, which was entirely normal for municipal Notgeld of this period.
The Jaksc catalogue number 0875 places this within the documented Upper Austrian series, though survival rates for village-level issues vary considerably — smaller communities often printed shorter runs.
