Hausmanning is a small village in Upper Austria, and this 50 Heller Notgeld is one of hundreds of hyper-local emergency issues that flooded the Austrian countryside between 1919 and 1921. The collapse of the Habsburg monetary system after 1918 left rural municipalities starved of small change — the central authorities in Vienna could not produce coin fast enough to meet demand, so villages printed their own.
The Jaksc/Pick reference 0357lb places this within a documented series for Hausmanning, suggesting at least two distinct issues. Johann Dorninger's signature as authorizing official is the only formal guarantee these notes carried.
