Munderfing is a small village in Upper Austria, and this note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept Austrian municipalities between 1919 and 1921. With the old Habsburg monetary system in collapse and the new Republic struggling to supply small-denomination coinage, hundreds of tiny communities — Munderfing among them — took matters into their own hands and printed emergency scrip locally to keep commerce moving.
The JPR0633a designation places it within Jaksch's regional Austrian Notgeld cataloguing. Collector demand for Gemeinde-issued Heller notes has historically outpaced supply for the more obscure village issues.
