Opmerkingen

Sankt Veit im Mühlkreis is a small Upper Austrian market commune, and like hundreds of similar municipalities it issued Notgeld during the acute small-change shortage that followed the First World War. These local emergency issues were administered at the communal level, which is why the signature here belongs to a local official rather than any banking authority — Joh. Rammerstorfer almost certainly served as Bürgermeister or communal treasurer at the time of issue.

Upper Austrian Notgeld from 1920 was printed in enormous variety but short runs, and many series were redeemed promptly once the national coinage situation stabilized.
