The Netherlands Antilles ceased to exist as a political entity on 10 October 2010, when the island federation was dissolved. Curaçao and Sint Maarten became autonomous countries within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, while Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba became special municipalities of the Netherlands proper. The Bank van de Nederlandse Antillen was replaced by the Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten, but notes from this series — including P#30 — remained legal tender on Curaçao and Sint Maarten through the extended redemption period ending in 2016, which accounts for the unusually long issue window on what is effectively a defunct authority's paper.
Enschedé's involvement with Antillean currency stretches back decades; the Haarlem press has produced virtually every significant banknote series for the islands.
