Beschrijving keerzijde A sweeping crescent-shaped sprig of oak leaves with acorns, rendered in fine relief, curves along the left side of the field from upper right to lower right, framing the central denomination. The large numeral '50' dominates the centre of the field, with the word 'GROSZY' inscribed in bold capitals beneath it. The word 'PRÓBA' (meaning 'trial' or 'pattern') appears in small upright lettering to the left of the numeral '50', confirming the piece's status as an official pattern strike. The overall design is clean and modernist, with a smooth mirrored field contrasting the textured oak sprig.

Aanvullende informatie

The 1990 trial strikes from Mennica Polska belong to the chaotic transitional period between the collapse of the Polish People's Republic and the monetary redenomination that would eventually replace the old złoty at a rate of 10,000 to 1. Numerous experimental pieces in non-standard compositions were produced during this window as the mint tested specifications for a new circulating coinage — most never advanced beyond the trial stage.

The Fischer and Parchimowicz references catalog this piece among a small group of documented probes. Surviving examples are almost exclusively in institutional or specialist collections.
