正面描述 The Polish national emblem, the White Eagle (Orzeł Biały) in the People's Republic style, occupies the central field, depicted displayed with wings spread and head turned dexter, notably without a crown in conformity with communist-era iconography. The circular legend 'RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA' arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, and the date '1949', flanked by two small raised dots, is positioned along the lower rim. The design is executed in a restrained, utilitarian style characteristic of early Polish People's Republic coinage.

附加信息

Poland struck this aluminium 50 Groszy in 1949 as part of a broader postwar currency reform that effectively severed the new People's Republic from the coinage traditions of the interwar Second Republic. The switch to aluminium was purely pragmatic — copper and nickel allocations were directed toward industrial reconstruction under Soviet-guided central planning. An earlier brass version (Y#44) had been issued in 1923; the 1949 aluminium revival shares the design but nothing of the political world that produced the original.
