| Aversbeschreibung | The central field features a stylized map of Western Europe overlaid with a large industrial cogwheel motif, evoking European economic integration. At the left center, a circular medallion bearing the letter 'E' — symbolizing the European Economic Community — is set within the gear. Concentric arc lines radiate across the field, lending a dynamic, modernist aesthetic to the design. The legend REPUBLIQUE D'HAITI arcs along the upper periphery, while the dates 1957-1977 appear in the lower central field, with XX ANNIVERSAIRE TRAITES DE ROME inscribed along the lower border. The whole is contained within a beaded border. |

| Zusätzliche Informationen |
Haiti's 1977–1978 50 Gourdes issues were part of a broad series of collector-oriented silver pieces produced under the Duvalier government, intended almost entirely for the foreign numismatic market rather than domestic circulation. Jean-Claude Duvalier's administration authorized numerous such issues through the 1970s, effectively using the national mint program as a foreign currency earner. The ".1" and ".2" variants in the KM reference reflect differing die details between production runs — a distinction that matters more to type collectors than it did to anyone in Port-au-Prince.
