| Beschrijving voorzijde | Conjoined busts of Prince Franz Josef II and Princess Gina in left-facing profile occupy the central field, rendered in high relief in the classical portrait style of engraver Edwin Grienauer. The date 1956 appears below the effigies, flanked by the engraver's name GRIENAUER. A circular legend surrounds the busts along the periphery of the coin. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Liechtenstein has no mint of its own — this piece was struck at Bern, as nearly all modern Liechtenstein coinage has been. The 1956 date marks the couple's silver wedding anniversary, which provided the occasion for the issue rather than any monetary necessity. Liechtenstein had by then long since abandoned gold as circulating currency, making this effectively a commemorative from the outset.
Franz Josef II was the first reigning prince to actually live in Liechtenstein full-time, having taken up residence at Vaduz Castle in 1938.
