| Reversbeschreibung | Four interlaced royal cyphers of Prince Rainier III, formed by stylised letters R surmounted by a princely crown at top and bottom, arranged in a cruciform composition at the centre of the field, with lozenge-shaped ornaments occupying the four diagonal quadrants. The motto DEO JVVANTE appears along the upper arc and CINQVANTE FRANCS along the lower arc, all contained within a beaded border. The overall design evokes Monegasque heraldic tradition with its symmetrical, architectural arrangement of monograms. |

This essai was produced to mark the 25th anniversary of Rainier III's accession in 1949, the year he inherited the throne from his grandfather Louis II. Essais from the Monnaie de Paris exist outside the standard circulation and bullion release program — they are trial or presentation strikes made for official approval, and Monaco's issues were typically produced in very small quantities for distribution to dignitaries and institutional collections rather than any commercial channel.
The .900 gold specification and substantial flan weight place this firmly in the prestige presentation category. Fewer than 100 examples are believed to have been struck.
