Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Marianne, the allegorical effigy of the French Republic, rendered in high relief with flowing hair swept back in stylised waves beneath a Phrygian-style cap. The engraver's signature R.JOLY appears in small incuse letters to the right of the effigy. The circumferential legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE arcs around the upper field, while the date 1967, flanked by two raised dots, is positioned in the lower exergue.

Reverse description Central design depicts a traditional Kanak conical thatched dwelling (grande case) set within a stylised landscape, flanked symmetrically by tall columnar Cook pines and a graceful palm tree rendered in fine relief against a deeply recessed mirror field. The denomination 50 f, with the numeral and franc symbol in bold, large characters, occupies the lower portion of the field beneath the central motif. The territorial name NOUVELLE - CALEDONIE arcs around the upper periphery, punctuated by two raised dots at the base.
