Obverse description Sculpted in high relief as a fully three-dimensional lion head effigy, the obverse depicts a roaring male lion facing directly forward, its open jaws revealing prominent fangs and teeth. The luxuriant mane radiates outward in deeply modeled, flowing strands, framing the powerfully rendered facial features including alert, forward-set eyes and textured whisker pads. The entire surface is struck in antiqued finish, enhancing the sculptural depth and dramatic naturalistic detail of the composition. No inscriptions appear on this face; all legends are reserved for the reverse.
