Opmerkingen

The Le Verrier type was introduced in 1946 as part of the broader postwar reissue program that refreshed the Banque de France's circulating stock following the disruptions and currency manipulations of the Occupation years. Robert Poughéon was a Prix de Rome laureate and one of the more accomplished figure draughtsmen working in French decorative arts at the time; his involvement in banknote design was not unusual given the Banque's long practice of commissioning fine-arts talent for engraved currency.

The note ran through four distinct signature combinations over its five-year life, making date and signature pairing the primary variable for collectors. The 07.06.1951 Gouin d'Ambrières & Gargam combination is the final and shortest-issued of the four.
